When I talk to the different SLPs I mentor, I usually hear the same things over and over again:
They want to be able to go to work confident and actually SEE their students making progress…
And they want to do it without sacrificing the rest of their life in the process.
They’re starting to realize that if they don’t find a better system soon, they’ll end up completely burning themselves out.
This is where I was headed when I started out, and my “language therapy planning” consisted of grabbing random games off my shelves right before my students got in to the room because I wasn’t sure what to do next
I was always too exhausted to sit down and figure it out.
I felt like a FRAUD because I was supposed to be the expert.
But I sure didn’t feel like one.
I swore each week that I was going to work extra hard to get to work early, get organized, and plan for these language sessions, but I was so overwhelmed I would rarely do it.
To add fuel to the fire my health was suffering.
I wasn’t sleeping.
I was in a state of perpetual crankiness, and I kept snapping at my husband and stepdaughter.
I didn’t want to get out of bed and face the day.
I was on medication.
My doctor told me I was slowly cutting years from my life.
I kept telling myself I was fine. But that was a lie.
Which is why I decided to dedicate myself to mastering my craft, becoming a language therapy expert, and creating a fulfilling career…
So I could finally enjoy my life.
I was sick of having to constantly modify and put things together, always reinventing the wheel. It was exhausting.
Since there wasn’t any language and literacy program that “fit” the SLP service delivery model, I decided to create my own during my doctoral work.
And when I started using the framework I created, I finally started making progress with some of my cases that had plateaued.
…Finally, I was dismissing cases not because they weren’t making progress, but because they were better.
…Finally, I saw some students who could barely function in a regular classroom become independent enough to function outside the special education classroom for some classes.
…Finally I gave myself some space to heal my body, spend time with my family, and work on things I’d never had time for in the past (like seeing private clients or starting my business).
…Finally, I was able to show up 100% and own my expertise.
In the video below, I share the 3-steps in this framework, plus why it leads to better carryover across settings when it comes to language skills:
I want to show you how I did it; and the key principles behind that system a special online presentation.
It’s called: “How to boost comprehension, processing, and academic performance without hours of prep, planning, and research”
In this presentation I’ll cover:
✅The top mistakes EVERYBODY makes when it comes to language therapy, and WHY they are confusing your students and burning you out
✅The SECRET I used to get BETTER RESULTS while doing LESS WORK that’s allowed me to help my students make major breakthroughs, while working a full-time SLP caseload and starting a business.
✅My 5-component framework for creating a “domino effect” that will amplify your language therapy, and help you break through language therapy plateaus without spending hours planning or doing research.
