If you’re here…it may mean it’s because you’ve been checking out my mentoring program for SLPs called SLP Learning Academy…
Which means my primary objective is to get you off the fence about joining with some FAQs…
But I’m gonna start by sharing a little story…
During the early years of my career, a wave of optimism would wash over me every time I’d get a long weekend or extended break from the school year (like summer vacation).
“I’m going to take a nice little break…and when I go back to school in the fall, things are going to be different!”
That sense of optimism would promptly disappear shortly after Labor Day, when I’d get swamped with evaluations, IEP meetings, and ridiculous scheduling logistics.
And every couple months, I’d have a burst of enthusiasm and convince myself I was going to make a change, and the pattern would repeat itself.
It was insanity.
I was doing the same things over and over again expecting a different result.
It was costing me big time.
…I’d spend hundreds of dollars on a bunch of random materials that ended up collecting dust on my shelves…
…I’d wasted hours on YouTube, Google, and free internet forums trying to sort through the clutter/drama and find legit advice…and I’d never have that time back again.
…I’d spent both TIME and MONEY going to seminars (on hotel, gas, food, conference fees)…only to find they never made a lasting impact on my practice or my students.
…I made myself sick with stress each morning I didn’t want to get out of bed and face the day.
….And worst of all, it was costing my students.
For my students who were dreading school and feeling like failures…each month they spent without solid intervention set them even further behind.
I knew that young children could make drastic progress in just a couple months with the right tools…
But every missed learning opportunity just multiplied their massive learning gap.
And that’s why my goal today…if you’re on the fence about joining SLP Learning Academy…is to help you make a decision.
Because staying in limbo is costing you a fortune.
And quite frankly, you deserve better.
But since I know SLP Learning Academy is not for everyone, I wanted to help you come to the right decision for you by sharing some FAQs:
What all comes with the program? Do I get therapy materials/videos, etc.?
SLP Learning Academy is about QUALITY not QUANTITY.
It’s incredibly lean so you can be as efficient as possible with your time. I
don’t want to make you sort through a ton of stuff to get the answers you want; which is why the program is focused 100% on coaching you through challenging case studies (related to therapy techniques as well as dealing with coworkers/supervisors/administrative work).
Any problem you have related to providing quality services for school-age kids, we can dig in to it on the live coaching calls.
When you join SLP Learning Academy you get two things:
- Weekly Recorded Live Coaching Calls where we’ll discuss case studies and do live Q & A support in a web conferencing format
- A professional discussion group to reinforce what you’ve learned on the calls and keep you accountable for action steps we’ve outlined on the calls.
If you ever need to miss a coaching call, you’ll be able to re-watch them later because I’ll be uploading them to an online member’s area.
*I do have other courses that offer trainings plus some essential materials, and SLP Learning Academy is a great way for you to build on what you’ve learned in those programs.
However, you’re in no way required to go through any of them before joining SLP Learning Academy.
What type of questions can I ask on the coaching calls? How do I know if this is right for me and my caseload?
The easiest way for me to answer this question is to share my credentials and experience, so you can see if it matches up with your needs.
I’m known for is helping SLPs treating kids with school-age language disorders (grades K-12).
If you have kids with processing issues and learning problems due to a number of diagnoses (e.g., autism, dyslexia, specific learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, auditory processing disorder, developmental language delay, genetic disorders, environmental factors, etc.)…then I’m your gal.
I spent 14 years in the school systems, so I’ve treated hundreds of students who had language disorders on top of other things (e.g., fluency, voice, articulation/phonological disorders, social-pragmatic language issues).
So I totally “get” what it’s like to navigate huge mixed groups, scheduling logistics, co-teaching relationships, paperwork and report writing, and tense IEP meetings.
I also have my doctorate in special education and have the director of special education credential, so I’ve seen the administrative side of things.
This means I can lend a helping hand when it comes to understanding complicated legal mandates, dealing with unreasonable micromanaging bosses, counseling and training parents/colleagues, and just learning how to be a good leader and team member in your building.
Finally, I’ve designed and delivered courses both through my own business and for universities; so I can also lend advice to those of you wanting to learn how to add additional streams of income or making a career transition.
I’ve even mentored doctoral students who were in the trenches of their dissertations; so we can geek out on academic writing and research too.
The bottom line is that your job is to be an amazing therapist and know how to make clinical decisions; but there’s way more to it than that.
You need to know how to be a leader and advocate across the board, and I can help you get there.
Do I need to join now? Can’t I just wait a couple months (like when school starts)?
Technically, yes. But I can’t make any guarantees about how long I’ll be offering this introductory rate. And every week that goes by that you’re NOT working on developing your skills is a week you can’t get back.
There will ALWAYS be an excuse to put this decision off and start “tomorrow”.
Your default tendency will be to stay in a familiar routine; it’s just human nature.
It’s like when you want to start a workout program but you’re tempted to hit the snooze button and stay in bed. Or when you start a new diet and you just want to grab a bag of Doritos.
Your brain will tempt you to stay in your comfort zone. If you want to get a different outcome in your work and life, RESIST!
Can I cancel my membership? What is your refund policy?
Because this coaching format requires an investment of our time, we don’t do refunds for this program.
We don’t just want people to download the coaching sessions and then ask for a refund because that isn’t fair to the paying members.
However, we understand that this program isn’t for everyone; so if you join and decide it’s not for you, you’re free to cancel at any time.
Do I earn continuing education credit for this program?
Since there will be 4 live calls per month, you’ll get a minimum of 4 CMHs per month.
CMHs are continuing education hours provided by a company who is not directly affiliated with ASHA.
ASHA will accept CMHs for certificate maintenance, and they have information on their website here about how to document them.
Basically, instead of these hours linking up directly the registry, you just have to track them with a form I will provide to you.
*Other licensing boards vary with regards to what type of hours they want, so you’re responsible for keeping track of requirements for any other type of licenses you hold.
So now, the ball is in your court.
In a couple months’ time, you can be stuck on the same cases, be struggling with the same workplace politics and drama…or you can get expert advice from a source you can trust.
Imagine what it would be like to have a place to go for legit answers from a trusted source EVERY WEEK?
What would it be like to stop spending free time sifting through tons of articles, posts, or materials?
What it would like waking up every Monday excited to go to work because you have a solid plan for dealing with everything life throws at you?
If you want this to be the year you finally turn things around, join me in SLP Learning Academy and lock in your introductory rate today.
