Meet Dr. Karen

tier 2 vocabulary; school speech therapy; language therapy techniques

I am a proud alumnus of Illinois State University! I earned my B.S. in 2002 and my M.S. in 2004 in Speech Pathology.  Shortly after, I received an advanced certificate as a Assistive Technology Specialist in 2008, where I learned how to use specialized technologies to assist individuals with disabilities. In 2014, I completed my doctorate in Special Education. All of my degrees are from Illinois State University.

I currently hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, a license to practice in the State of Illinois from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and a Professional Educator’s License from the State Board of Education with endorsements for Speech Language Pathology and Director of Special Education.

For over 10 years, I’ve been a practicing speech language pathologist. I’ve worked in the schools and medical settings with adults and children, have supervised clinical students, and have taught college courses in Special Education and Communication Sciences and Disorders. I currently work in the school systems and own a private practice in Central Illinois.
