When I search through a lot of commercially available social narratives for people with ASD, I often find myself underwhelmed.
In many cases, they just don’t fit the specific scenarios relevant to students.
In other cases, they’re too cutesy and not a fit for older students.
There’s a lot about playing with friends, taking turns in class, but not a lot about more mature social issues…
Things like dating, all the changes going on in your body, figuring out who you are as a person. Kids are dealing with a lot these days.
And it’s all so unique to each person. This is also why I shy away from making too many cookie-cutter social scripts and narratives…
There’s just NO WAY I’d be able to predict all the different scenarios that would come up!
